顯而易見的，這兩個單詞的原意似乎并不接近。前者是 to delay or stop the progress of sth 阻礙；阻止，更接近與hinder，hamper，是標準的書面語。Eg. Fallen rock is impeding the progress of rescue workers.

而restrict是 to limit the size, amount or range of sth，即限制，我們大家比較熟悉的意思。然而它還有一層意思，是大家不熟悉的，to stop sb/sth from moving or acting freely 即束縛；妨礙。這就說明，在所考察的語境中，后者的第二個意思和impede更接近。所以，這個答案的選項也就不讓人意外了。所以再次提醒大家，TOEFL考察的是第二語言學習者，一次多義的情況很多見，大家做題的時候要進行語境還原，避免一葉障目的錯選。
8. decipher＝figure out
Decipher：to succeed in finding the meaning of sth that is difficult to read or understand 破譯，辨認（難認、難解的東西）

Figure out是to think about sb/sth until you understand them/it 弄懂；弄清楚，更接近于work out
Eg. I can't figure out how to do this.
我弄不懂怎樣做這件事。
9. burgeoning＝increasingly
Burgeon為動詞發(fā)芽（=sprout），可以積累這樣的詞組：burgeoning company 新興公司 burgeoning industry新興產(chǎn)業(yè)。
10. uniformly＝consistently
Uniform n.校服；制服 a.一致的前綴uni-表示"一個,單一"unilingual a. 只用一種語言的。
Eg. The middle button of his uniform jacket was strained over his belly.
制服上裝中間的紐扣在他的肚子上繃得緊緊的。
The price rises will not be uniform across the country.
